Ball sizes

Arm lengths
Weight capacity
B size 1" / 2.54 cm ball mount for devices up to 0.91 kg (approx. 2 lbs)
C size 1.5" / 3.81 cm ball mount for devices up to 1.81 kg (approx. 4 lbs)
D size 2.25" / 5.71 cm ball mount for devices up to 2.72 kg (approx. 6 lbs)
E size 3.38" / 8.58 cm ball mount for devices up to 6.8 kg (approx. 15 lbs)
What does the “U” in the item number mean?
‘U’ stands for “Unpacked,” and the product is delivered in a plastic bag. Otherwise, the item is delivered in store packaging, a box, or a rider.
A RAM-B-201 is therefore exactly the same product as a RAM-B-201U; only the packaging differs.
The item I want is listed as “Order item.”
On our website, we only show our available stock. It may be that we have assembled items available instead, or vice versa. If you need help finding the right item, please feel free to contact us.
What weights are recommended for the different ball sizes?
A size 0,56" / 14mm ball mount for units up to 0,5lbs/0,25 kg weight and less in heavy duty applications*
B size 1" / 25mm ball mount for units up to 2lbs/1 kg (.9kg) weight and 1 lbs/0,5kg in heavy duty applications*
But up to 5 lbs in applications with light very low shock and vibration. However even less than 1 lbs in extreme applications **
C size 1.5" / 38mm ball mount for units up to 4lbs/2 kg (1.8kg) weight and 3 lbs/1,5kg in heavy duty applications)*
But up to 10 lbs in applications with light very low shock and vibration. However even less than 3 lbs in extreme applications **
D size 2.25" / 57mm ball mount for units up to 6lbs/3 kg (2,7kg) weight and 5 lbs/2,3kg in heavy duty applications*
but up to 15 lbs in applications with light very low shock and vibration. However even less than 5lbs in extreme applications **
E size 3.38" / 86mm ball mount for units up to 15 lbs/7kg (6.8kg) weight and 10 lbs/4,5kg in heavy duty applications *
But up to 30 lbs in applications with light very low shock and vibration. However even less than in extreme applications**
*NOTE! Be aware, the maximum weights above are simply a guide.
**NOTE! Be aware, the maximum weights above are simply a guide. Different applications and mounting angles will affect these limits! We always suggest testing in each individual application to verify.
For example, see below:
Marine/SportFishing: On a fast moving lighter motor boat it is wise to aim for the lower of the stated weight limits. On a heavy leasure sailing boat or very large motor boat, one can most likely use the higher of the stated weights.
Forklifts/Construction Vehicles/Tractors: In a forklift truck that doesn’t have any suspension and often drive over concrete sills it is wise to aim for the lower of the stated weight limits. In a well chock suspended cabin of a Forest Harvester or in a semi truck one can most likely use something in between the lower and the higher weight.
Bicycle/Powersports: On a MX motorcycle it is wise not to exceed the lower weight limit. On a downhill or BMC bicycle it is wise to also stay around or below the lower weight limit for phones and GPS etc, while when mounting a camera to the bicycle it is recommended to stay well below the lower weight limit for vibration free filming. On a Honda Goldwing or larger motorcycle one can go above the lower weight limit, but not up to the higher stated weight.
Important: Due to the ball and socket construction and endless variations possible to build with the RAM Mounting system, particularly in professional solutions must be tested in each application to ensure proper functionality.
How long are the different arms?
If you want to convert to centimeters, 1" = 2.54 cm.
Regarding painting
For production reasons, certain parts of certain products may not be 100% covered by the black paint. The underlying aluminum surface may then be visible. These surfaces are usually in places where they are not visible when the product is in its normal position of use. The most common place where this can occur is on the aluminum shaft just below the ball. It is important to note that these cosmetic defects do not affect the function of the product and are not considered a defect in the product and therefore do not constitute acceptable grounds for complaint.
